Beauty is all around us –– in people and places. One of my passions is offering a service that adds beauty to people’s lives.
When COVID hit, I considered retiring, but I realized I had more to give. My love for learning led me to an unexpected but rewarding career in real estate.
Growing up in Massachusetts, I thought I was destined to be a singer. I even studied musical theater in college, but that dream ended abruptly when I had to undergo vocal cord surgery. Recovery didn’t go as planned and I couldn’t sing the way I once did.
With my path suddenly uncertain, I pivoted to studying hotel and restaurant management. Around that time, my father passed away, leaving me with the responsibility of selling his business. As challenging as it was, the experience gave me an invaluable introduction to the business world.
I joined a restaurant company in Massachusetts, opening new branches, preparing training programs, and ensuring quality standards. During this time, my husband, Larry, and I welcomed our two daughters, Melissa and Joanna. Larry and I have known each other since we were 8 and got married at 21. I spent my twenties raising our daughters, often bringing them along as I worked to open new restaurants up and down the east coast. Raising a family was an adventure, but it wasn’t without challenges. One of our daughters was born with a heart defect that required open heart surgery at two years of age. The medical complications were stressful, but we pulled through as a family.
Life took a new turn when Larry was offered a job in Fort Collins, Colorado. We packed up and moved, ready for a fresh start. Six months later, the company that hired Larry closed, leaving us at a crossroads. One day, while getting my hair done, the stylist mentioned that the salon was looking for a manager. I applied and got the job.
Managing the salon was an enriching experience. I developed training programs and worked closely with young women, many of whom needed confidence boosts. My curiosity led me to pursue a cosmetology license, and I started working as a hairstylist! I loved pampering clients, having meaningful conversations, and helping them see their own beauty.
My approach to work has never been about competition—there’s enough to go around and we attract the people we’re meant to work with. This mindset helped me build strong relationships with my colleagues and clients alike.
After some time at the salon, I started feeling the itch for something new. Retirement crossed my mind, but when COVID hit and I had the space to reflect, I realized I wasn’t done yet. That’s when real estate popped into my mind.
Having invested in properties myself, I always enjoyed the architecture and staging aspect of the business. So, in 2021, I got my real estate license. I found a company who shared my belief that there’s plenty to go around –– that’s when I knew I had found the right place for me. The guidance from many generous mentors validated my approach to life and business: take care of people, add value, and the rest will follow. I thrive on teamwork and found wonderful camaraderie among my colleagues.
Looking back, I’m proud of the life Larry and I have built. Sustaining a 40-year marriage, especially after marrying so young, hasn’t been easy, but we’ve grown together. I’m equally proud of my daughters and delighted to now have two grandchildren who are teaching me patience and presence.
When I’m not working or spending time with family, I enjoy golf, hiking, yoga, music, or simply soaking in the beauty of the mountains. I’m also a founding board member of “NoCo Cares,” a giving group that raises thousands of dollars for local charities, meeting community needs and giving a hand up, one donation at a time.
Overall, real estate feels like the culmination of my life’s work. It brings together my experience in training, sales, management, and my love of helping people. I’m grateful to be doing what I love.
Real estate is a major life decision, and I’m deeply involved in every step to ensure a positive outcome. With high stakes involved, I commit to bringing my A game. Listening is one of my strongest skills. I take the time to understand my clients’ needs and concerns, offering reassurance and support. Clear communication and prompt responses are my priorities, often leading to lasting friendships with my clients.
What sets me apart is my ability to simplify complex processes, making transactions as smooth as possible. The simpler, the better. In addition, I take a methodical, step-by-step approach to getting my clients where they want to go. My eye for aesthetics also adds value, especially during staging, where thoughtful touches like fresh flowers or a new doormat can make all the difference.
As a skilled negotiator with years of experience, I understand people and can craft win-win deals. My non-competitive, collaborative approach fosters successful negotiations with other REALTORS®. Specializing in luxury homes and golf communities, I bring expertise, creativity, and a dedication to delivering results that exceed expectations.
Sincerely,
